2007 Theme - God Rocks!
Are
you ready to ground yourself in the constant, non-changing, solid,
everlasting, foundational Truth that “God Rocks”? If
so, join us each week as we explore a different meaning of that
phrase, culminating the month with a very special activity. This
month will surely rock at [name of your center]-- so don’t
miss a Sunday!
First
Sunday - “Founded on the Rock”
The Master Teacher Jesus once said, “But whoever hears these
sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who
built his house on the rock and the rain descended, the floods came,
and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall,
for it was founded on the rock.” Today we will delve into
how founded on the rock we really are.
Second
Sunday - “Rocks of Growth”
As we walk
this spiritual journey, every moment is an opportunity to grow in
a deepened awareness of the power of God’s Presence and Strength
in our lives. Today, we will explore the importance of focusing
on our Rocks of G-R-O-W-T-H before anything else.
Third
Sunday - “It’s Time to Rock and Roll”
Is it time
to enliven your life? Time to empower your dreams and your desires?
Time to let God be God in you? Well, then it sounds like it’s
time rock and roll, and that’s just what we’ll do today!
Fourth
Sunday - “Gratitude Rocks”
With bellies filled with turkey and hearts filled with gratitude,
we will culminate the Thanksgiving weekend and the month of November
in a profound way. Each congregant will receive a very special gift
as we realize that God really does rock!
[MINISTERS’
NOTE RE SPECIAL ACTIVITY THIS MONTH: We purchased a large supply
of beige and black polished 2” rocks and thin tipped markers
(gold, silver, and black) and had a table display of the rocks and
markers, with a sign explaining the activity in the foyer. People
were invited to write something for which they were grateful on
a rock and bring the rock into the sanctuary with them. Then, during
the offering, they were invited to come forward and place their
“gratitude” rock on an altar built at the front of the
stage. People could do as many rocks at they wanted to and could
do new ones each week. We watched the rock pile grow and grow all
month. It was pretty amazing. Then we culminated the activity on
the last Sunday. See the talk for that Sunday for details.]
